In Pitt Rivers museum you can find a gorgeous woman statue from Ukraine. Such statues are raised over southern Ukraine from ancient times. They were left by nomads who lived here 2000-1000 years ago. Kurgan stelae or Balbals ( most probably from a Turkic word balbal translated as “ancestor” or “grandfather” are anthropomorphic stone stelae, images cut from stone, installed on the top of kurgans, in kurgan cemeteries. The stelae are also considered as “obelisks” or “statue menhirs”.
